The Storm Within
Beneath the trees,
between the rain,
the sky outside,
the storm within.
The boy in me,
laughing and crying —
loud are my thoughts,
but words don't find their soul.
Days, months,
even years have known
how unworthy I felt,
how alone.
Drop by drop,
the years revealed
what familiar faces
had concealed.
I cannot say
the storm has passed.
I choose my words with care;
I keep my guard.
Yet beneath the trees,
between the rain
I let him speak —
the words he held within.
